Biography

Most often recognized from her role as Barbara Jean on TV's "Reba," Melissa Peterman began her career in the Hey City Theater's production of "Tony n' Tina's Wedding," after she'd graduated from Minnesota State University in Mankato. After more than 600 performances as Madeline Monroe, she moved on to study improvisation techniques at the Brave New Workshop. She earned her first film role in 1996 in the Minneapolis set crime comedy "Fargo," in which she played Hooker #2. After a small role on an episode of "Just Shoot Me!," she landed "Reba," and would go on to play the loopy other woman on the Reba McEntire sitcom for more than 100 episodes of the series' six-season run. Since the show wrapped in 2007, Peterman's expanded into short films and voice work with "Fleece" and "American Dad!" In 2009, she landed recurring roles on "Surviving Suburbia" and "Rita Rocks." She's also made an appearance alongside her husband and fellow actor, John Brady, and "Reba" cast mate Christopher Rich on the popular TLC home renovation show "Trading Spaces."
