Biography

Although the bulk of British born actor Christopher Cazenove's work was for the U.K. small screen, he found time in the mid-1980s to play the younger brother of John Forsythe's character on the Aaron Spelling-produced juggernaut nighttime soap opera "Dynasty." Cazenove starred in a total of 36 episodes as Ben Carrington, and in something of a strange twist, his death in April 2010 came just six days after that of his former co-star Forsythe. He first rose to prominence as Lieutenant Richard Gaunt on the early 1970's British TV series "The Regiment," a show which examined two families' perspectives of a British Army regiment. But in the end, he became known more for playing British aristocrats than men of battle. He was, for example, Charles Haslemere in 15 episodes of the Rosa Lewis biopic "The Duchess of Duke Street," and a quiet Cambridge History professor on "A Fine Romance." Cambridge University also played a role in the actor's greatest personal tragedy. In 1999, his eldest son Linford was killed in a car accident within the institution's vicinity, from which he had just graduated with a Master's Degree in Philosophy.
