Carter kickstarted her acting career with films like "Mister Brown" (1972), the Rutger Hauer film "The Osterman Weekend" (1983) and the Roy Scheider film "2010" (1984). She also starred in the TV movies "A Killing Affair" (CBS, 1977-78) and "The Choice" (CBS, 1980-81). Her work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Invisible Child" (Lifetime, 1998). Following that project, she worked on "Significant Others" (Fox, 1997-98) and "Payne" (CBS, 1998-99). Recently, she tackled roles on "Boston Public" (2000-04), "The District" (CBS, 2000-04) and "Crossing Jordan" (NBC, 2001-07). She also appeared in "Nip/Tuck" (FX, 2003-2010) and "The Closer" (TNT, 2004-2011). Carter most recently acted in "Black Dynamite" (2009) with Michael Jai White.
