Biography
The origin of Akosua Busia's acting career goes back to when she was just 13 years old. Busia's early acting career mostly consisted of roles in various films, such as the Michael Caine adventure "Ashanti" (1979), the horror film "The Final Terror" (1981) with John Friedrich and the Danny Glover dramatic adaptation "The Color Purple" (1985). She had a part on the television special "Young Lives" (1980-81). She also was featured in the miniseries "Louisiana" (1984-85) and "A.D." (1984-85). She kept working in film throughout the eighties, starring in the drama "Crossroads" (1986) with Ralph Macchio, "Low Blow" (1986) and "Native Son" (1986). During the latter part of her career, she tackled roles in the thriller "The Seventh Sign" (1988) with Demi Moore, the dramatic period piece "Rosewood" (1997) with Jon Voight and the crime feature "Mad City" (1997) with Dustin Hoffman. She also appeared in the adventurous drama "Ill Gotten Gains" (1997) with Mario Gardner. Busia most recently acted in "Tears of the Sun" (2003) with Bruce Willis. Busia was married to John Singleton and had one child.
