Paul Brown has established himself as one of the most impressive opera designers in the world. His elaborate designs have been seen worldwide from London's Royal Opera House Covent Garden to NYC's Metropolitan Opera. Segueing to features, he earned an Oscar nomination for his first effort, Philip Haas' "Angels and Insects" (1996). Brown's exaggerated Victorian costumes were exotic and offered visual clues to the character's inner emotions. The gowns he created were particularly stunning; Brown used a palette of bright reds, yellows and blues, as well as black and white complimented by over-decorated hats covered with fruits, flowers, birds and eggs.
