In the early stages of his Hollywood career, Brooks held acting roles in films like the comedic drama "The Monkey Hustle" (1976) with Yaphet Kotto. He additionally landed roles in the TV movies "Rage" (1980-81), "Scared Straight! Another Story" (CBS, 1980-81) and "Fly Away Home" (ABC, 1981-82). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "The Seduction of Gina" (CBS, 1983-84). Following that project, he worked on the crime feature "8 Million Ways to Die" (1986) with Jeff Bridges and "Assassination" (1987). He also worked in television around this time, including a part on "The Renegades" (ABC, 1982-83). Brooks's more recent roles included "Defenseless" (1991) and "Reservoir Dogs" (1992) with Harvey Keitel. Brooks's music was most recently used in the comedy "Deck The Halls" (2006) with Danny DeVito. Additionally, he appeared on the television special "Sirens" (CBS, 1987-88).
