Biography

Entertainment is in the blood of the Winston family. Yale University graduate Matt, the son of special effects wizard Stan, got his start in the industry in his early 20s. He often plays everyman types, leaning towards the nerdy and mild-mannered. Horror seemed to be his preference at first; he had small parts in the revamped scare franchises "New Nightmare" and "Halloween H2O: 20 Years Later" in the early 1990s. Bit parts in hugely successful films followed, as he was seen in various capacities (limo driver, U.N. official, technician, etc.) in hits such as "Fight Club," "Galaxy Quest," "Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles," "About Schmidt," and "A.I. Artificial Intelligence." His feature film career has remained modest--it's television where he has blossomed. Winston had recurring roles on "Fame L.A."; the HBO sports comedy "Arli$$"; another HBO hit, "Six Feet Under"; and his most famous portrayal, of Temporal Agent Daniels, on all four seasons of "Star Trek: Enterprise." Notable follow-ups to these successes are his appearances in Showtime's "John From Cincinnati" and the popular hospital comedy "Scrubs."
