Biography
Squarely handsome, actor John Terry barely had an acting credit to his name when he landed his first lead role as the commander of a motley band of warriors in the earnestly spirited swords-and-sorcery myth "Hawk the Slayer" (1980). Having rarely headlined a cast since, he's emerged instead as a dependable supporting performer, garnering integral roles in, among others, the mesmerizing war drama "Full Metal Jacket," the tragic tale of friendship "Of Mice and Men," and the hard-edged James Bond outing "The Living Daylights," in which he played 007's loyal confidant Felix Leiter. Though he's had a television presence since the '80s, the new millennium in particular has brought a flood of significant recurring roles on such prime-time fare as the sensational action hit "24" and the lively casino drama "Las Vegas." Increasingly prone to roles of doctors and mysterious father figures as he aged into a look of silver-haired dignity, he attracted a rather rabid following as the ambiguous but tellingly named spirit guide Christian Shephard on the enigmatic TV phenomenon "Lost."
