He made his first appearance as an actor in the 1970 made-for-TV-movie "Night Chase." His film credits (usually bit parts as old drunks or grandfathers) include three Robert Aldrich films: "The Emperor of the North Pole" (1973), "The Longest Yard" (1974) and "The Frisco Kid" (1979), as well as two Cheech and Chong movies: "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie" (1980) and "Things Are Tough All Over" (1982). Steadman made his final appearance in an episode of "L.A. Law" (1990).
