Biography

Writer, producer, director and occasional bit player Robert Singer has contributed so much to film and television that it isn't surprising that has a character named after him in the popular science fiction television series "Supernatural." Along with his wife Eugenie Ross-Leming, Singer serves as an executive producer and writer on the series, whose science fiction and adventure themes are an apt reflection of more than three decades in the business. From the 1970s, Singer has indicated a penchant for horror and science fiction films, producing several including "The Night Strangler," "Scream of the Wolf" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula," starring Jack Palance. Singer also had a hand in numerous lighter shows, including the 1977 series "Dog and Cat" starring Kim Basinger, and 1981's "The Children Nobody Wanted," which featured Michelle Pfeiffer. Singer never drifted too far from darker themes, producing the horror feature "Cujo," a Stephen King adaptation. In the mid-1980s, Singer executive produced the surprise hit science-fiction drama series "V." Singer continued developing numerous series into the 1990s, including "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and "Timecop." Leading up to the long-running success of "Supernatural," which premiered in 2005, Singer developed and produced the crime dramas "Turks" and "Hack."
