Shapiro worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "Modern Problems" (1981), "Monty Hall's Variety Hour" (ABC, 1975-76) and "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes" (NBC, 1982-83). He also contributed to "TV's Censored Bloopers" (NBC, 1983-84), "The Great American Dream Machine" (PBS, 1971-72) and "The Groove Tube" (1974). Shapiro had a number of different projects under his belt in the nineties and the early 2000s, including "The 56th Annual Golden Globe Awards" (NBC, 1998-99), "All-Star Bloopers" (ABC, 1999-2000) and "Golden Globe Arrivals Special" (NBC, 1999-2000). His credits also expanded to "The 57th Annual Golden Globe Awards" (NBC, 1999-2000) and "For Your Consideration" (2006) starring Catherine O'Hara. Shapiro most recently wrote "The 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" (CBS, 2010-11). Shapiro was nominated for an Outstanding Special Class Program Primetime Emmy Award for "The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards" in 2007.
