Biography
The blond, cherubic-faced male charge of Fran Drescher's "The Nanny" (CBS, 1993-99), Benjamin Salisbury is a Minnesota native who has been acting and performing from an early age. He appeared in national TV commercials and in "The Nutcracker" with the Joffrey Ballet before making his film debut playing the son of Martin Short and Mary Kay Place taken on a raucous sea ride by Kurt Russell in "Captain Ron" (1992). He had a small role as a scout in "Iron Will" (1994) and also appeared in "D3: The Mighty Ducks" (1996). Most of Salisbury's career has been "The Nanny" on which he was Brighton Sheffield, the middle child and only son of the family, a character who began as a would-be promoter and has evolved into a hormone-driven teen. He has also found time for guest appearances on "Kirk" (The WB, 1995), and "Promised Land" (CBS, 1996). In a 1997 interview with "Entertainment Tonight," he also revealed that before he found series success, he and his family were homeless and living in their car.
