Saint-Macary began his acting career with roles in such films as the drama "Le Plein de Super" (1976) with Patrick Bouchitey, "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo" (1977) and the Gérard Depardieu drama "Tell Him I Love Him" (1977). He also appeared in "Martin et Lea" (1978), the Sami Frey comedy "Pourquoi Pas!" (1978) and the drama "A nous deux" (1979) with Catherine Deneuve. His film career continued throughout the seventies and the eighties in productions like "La Memoire courte" (1979), "Le Point douloureux" (1979) and "Loulou" (1980) with Isabelle Huppert. He also appeared in the comedy "Les Hommes preferent les grosses" (1981) with Josiane Balasko and the comedy adaptation "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme" (1982) with Michel Galabru.
