Biography

This bright young comedy writer, TV producer and feature director got his start as an intern on "Late Night with David Letterman." Resnick was a film student at NYU when he so impressed Letterman with some unsolicited comedy material that he was hired as a full-time staff writer. He teamed up with the popular writer-performer Chris Elliott to write a number of recurring routines for "Late Night" including Elliott's baroque impersonations of Marlon Brando and Morton Downey, Jr. This dynamic comedy duo joined forces with TV comedy veteran David Mirkin to create "Get A Life!" (Fox, 1990-92), a memorable and engagingly stupid sitcom starring Elliott. Resnick became a frequent writer, co-producer, and eventually producer of the series. He segued to the big screen as the writer-director of "Cabin Boy" (1994), a somewhat likeable if leaky star vehicle for Elliott which bombed at the box office.
