Gina Ravera
Biography
Biography
Gina Ravera has been acting since the early 1990s, but the classically trained dancer's first major involvement with film came in the controversial 1995 production "Showgirls," alongside Elizabeth Berkley, Gina Gershon, and Kyle MacLachlan. She has appeared in other films such as 1997's "Kiss the Girls" and "Soul Food," but is known primarily for her work in television. Her first recurring role came at the end of 1993 as Dr. Diana Roth in the series "Silk Stalkings," a crime drama focusing on sex cases. After some work in TV movies like "W.E.I.R.D. World" alongside "Twin Peaks" alum Dana Ashbrook, and the biopic "The Temptations," she landed a co-starring role as Jocelyn House on the "Party of Five" spinoff "Time of Your Life." The series did not enjoy the success of its predecessor, however, and was canceled after 19 episodes. Ravera is perhaps best known for her supporting role alongside Kyra Sedgwick in the critically acclaimed crime drama "The Closer" as Detective Irene Daniels, for which she received nominations for a Vision Award and two Imagen Awards. From 2006 to 2008, Ravera also guest-starred on 13 episodes of "ER" as Dr. Bettina DeJesus.
