Biography

Although he had a memorable turn in Oliver Stone's war drama "Platoon," Francesco Quinn is best known as the son of renowned actor Anthony Quinn. Born in Rome, the young Quinn had only one television appearance under his belt before landing the memorable role as drug-addled soldier Shah in "Platoon." Ensuing roles brought little acclaim, though he had the chance to appear in several films with his father, including the Hemingway adaptation "The Old Man and the Sea," in which Francesco played the young Santiago and Anthony the old. He appeared in John Milius's "Rough Riders" mini-series about Teddy Roosevelt's cavalry days, and held the leading role in the assassination thriller "Placebo Effect." He later had a recurring part as novelist suffering from writer's block on the soap "The Young and the Restless." On both the military legal drama "JAG" and the wildly popular "24," Quinn played terrorists for several episodes. He later portrayed an underworld figure in the crime drama "The Shield." In addition to various single-episode roles on other series and larger roles in several lesser action pictures, Quinn has done extensive voice recording for video games.
