Biography
Tito Puente brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. Early on, Puente mostly landed roles in various films, including "Musica" (1985), the comedy "Radio Days" (1987) with Mia Farrow and "Salsa" (1988) with Bobby Rosa. Puente also contributed music to the Ruben Blades dramatic comedy "Crossover Dreams" (1985) and "A Bailar!" (1988). In the nineties, Puente devoted his time to various credits, such as "Gladiator" (1992), "The Mambo Kings" (1992) starring Armand Assante and "Carlito's Way" (1993) starring Al Pacino. He also worked on "Latin Nights" (1993). Puente's music was also featured in the Antonio Banderas box office smash action movie "Spy Kids" (2001), "Blow" (2001) and "Born Romantic" (2001). His music was also featured in the Isaac Mizrahi comedic drama "Hollywood Ending" (2002). Puente was most recently credited in the romantic comedy "Cuban Fury" (2014) with Nick Frost. In addition to his music, Puente also appeared on-screen in "Calle 54" (2000). Puente passed away in June 2000 at the age of 77.
