Biography
TV actor who starred as undercover government agent Christopher Colt on the Western series "Colt .45" from 1957-59. Like other Warner Bros. TV "walkout stars" Clint Walker, James Garner and Edd Byrnes, Preston walked off the show to protest his low salary during the 1958-59 season, but was replaced by Donald May. In the 60s he moved to Rome and followed actors Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef in seeking a career in Italian spaghetti Westerns, appearing in films including "Anzio" and "Today It's Me--Tomorrow You" (both 1968) and "A Long Ride From Hell" and "A Man Called Sledge" (both 1970). Preston returned to the USA in the early 80s and made his final film appearance in "Captain America" (1990).
