Biography
Independent film lovers may recognize Esteban Powell (then a teenager) as Carl, the middle school kid who draws the ire of maniacal, paddle-wielding senior Ben Affleck in Richard Linklater's classic high school dramedy "Dazed and Confused." The youthfully handsome Powell worked steadily since that, his big-screen debut, in 1993. He starred in the creepy kids' TV series "Bone Chillers" and later made guest TV appearances on such notable established dramas as "Monk" and "Beverly Hills, 90210." In movies, he starred with "Dazed and Confused" co-star Joey Lauren Adams in the quirky romantic comedy "Bunny Whipped," and portrayed guitarist Phil Collen in "Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story." Powell is also known for playing Arnie Swenton, part of the team of extreme interventionist William Banks on A&E's acclaimed drama "The Cleaner." Powell, who has worked on multi-platform strategy development and production for Nickelodeon, also founded the SoundFilm Company, a production company that handles web content and development.
