Biography

English actor Jonny Phillips has made his on screen debut in 1985 in the British television series "The Ties of Blood." In 1987 he was cast in the role of Ralph in a film adaptation of the classic Brother's Grimm Fairy Tales, "Rumpelstiltskin," and "Sleeping Beauty." Throughout the '80s and '90s, Phillips starred in a number of television series for U.K. audiences, such as "Casualty," "Lovejoy," and "Moon and Son." In 1997, Phillips was cast in his first major Hollywood film, the big-budget James Cameron-helmed disaster epic "Titanic" starring Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Billy Zane. The movie was a critical and box-office smash hit, and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Following the success of "Titanic," Phillips continued to get work in large- budget feature films, many of them set in England. He was cast in 1998's "The Quarry," 1999's "The Beautiful People," and 2004's adaptation of William Thackeray's classic novel "Vanity Fair," which starred Reese Witherspoon as the conniving and manipulative Becky Sharp. Phillips success on the feature film world did not cause him to give up television entirely. He continued to work on British television series, guesting in episodes of shows like "Midsomer Murders," "Secret Diary of a Call Girl," and "Heroes and Villains."
