Biography
Freda Payne was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Payne worked in television around the start of her acting career with a role on "Living Single" (Fox, 1993-98). She appeared in a number of television specials, including "The Wayne Newton Special" (NBC, 1974-75) and "The Legendary Ladies" (Cinemax, 1986-87). Payne also contributed music to "The Best of Cinemax Sessions" (Cinemax, 1989-1990). She also appeared in the TV special "The 22nd Annual Mrs America Pageant" (ION Television Network, 1998-99). Her work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Fire & Ice" (BET, 2000-01). She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "On Tour" (PBS, 1996-98). She also had roles in film during these years, including roles in the Russell Richardson drama "Ragdoll" (1999). Payne also created music for "Angie" (1994) with Geena Davis. She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "American Idol" (2002-). Payne most recently acted in the comedy "The Divorce" (2014) with Jonelle Allen.
