1978

Formed Duran Duran with school friend Nick Rhodes and Stephen Duffy; played guitar for band, but later switched to bass

1979

Duffy left group and replaced by vocalist Simon Le Bon

1981

Duran Duran released self-titled debut; featured hit single "Girls on Film"

1982

Delivered successful second album <i>Rio</i>; included hits "Rio," "Hungry Like the Wolf," and "Save a Prayer"

1984

Formed side project The Power Station along with singer Robert Palmer, former Chic drummer Tony Thompson, and fellow Duran Duran member Andy Taylor

1985

Made acting debut on British TV series "Timeslip"

1986

Recorded solo debut single "I Do What I Do..." for the "9½ Weeks" film soundtrack

1993

Had another Duran Duran hit with second self-titled release, also referred to as <i>The Wedding Album</i>; included hits "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone"

1996

Co-founded independent record label B5 Records in California

1997

Released solo debut <i>Feelings Are Good and Other Lies</i>

1999

Made big screen debut in films "Sugar Town" and "Drowning on Dry Land"

Played the Ghost of Christmas Present opposite Vanessa Williams in "A Diva's Christmas Carol" (VH1)

2004

Reunited with Duran Duran for successful tour and 11th studio album <i>Astronaut</i>

2009

Guest starred on ABC comedy "Samantha Who?"

2011

Released <i>All You Need Is Now</i>, Duran Duran's first album not released by major record label; released digitally

2012

Penned rock 'n' roll memoir <i>In the Pleasure Groove: Love, Death, and Duran Duran</i>
