Patterson started in the industry by acting in films like the comedy "Airplane!" (1980) with Robert Hays. She also appeared in the TV special "The Osmond Family Thanksgiving Special" (NBC, 1981-82). Her work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Sidney Shorr: A Girl's Best Friend" (NBC, 1981-82). Patterson focused on television in more recent years, appearing on "Private Benjamin" (1980-83), "The Book of Lists" (CBS, 1981-82) and "Murder, She Wrote" (CBS, 1984-1996). Additionally, she appeared on the television special "Sex, Shock and Censorship in the 90's" (Showtime, 1993-94). She also appeared in "The Flying Doctors" (1985). Patterson most recently appeared on "Phil Hartman: The E! True Hollywood Story" (E! Networks, 1998-99).
