Mitchell began to focus on film after appearing in the Tal Farlow documentary "Talmage Farlow" (1981), "Forever Evil" (1988) and the Kevin Costner dramatic adaptation "J.F.K." (1991). Later in his career, Mitchell acted in "8 Seconds" (1994) with Luke Perry.
