Biography
Eve McVeagh was an actress who had many costarring or small roles in thrillers, film noirs, and crime-centered films and television series, predominantly in the 1950s and 1960s. One of the biggest films she was cast in at the beginning of her career was the Western thriller "High Noon," starring Grace Kelly and Gary Cooper. McVeagh played the wife of a friend of Gary Cooper's character (played by Harry Morgan), who lies about her husband not being home so as to cover up his participation in the film's central shootout confrontation at "high noon." In the film noir "Tight Spot," McVeagh plays the sister of the main character, Sherry, played by Ginger Rogers, who is brought in to convince Sherry to testify as the key witness in a gangster-related crime; the sisters end up fighting, leaving Sherry unconvinced by this tactic. In "Crime and Punishment, USA," McVeagh plays an elderly pawn shop owner, the murder victim of the main character, Robert, played by George Hamilton in his feature film debut. McVeagh made appearances as four different minor characters in four separate episodes of the mystery thriller program "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," a reporter and a grieving mother being the most prominent roles.
