McNaughton began his career with roles in the mystery adaptation "The 39 Steps" (1935) with Robert Donat and the Charles Laughton drama "St. Martin's Lane W.C.2" (1938). McNaughton next focused his career on film, appearing in "The Divorce of Lady X" (1938) and the comedy "Clouds Over Europe" (1939) with Lawrence Olivier. Later in his career, McNaughton acted in "Old Bill and Son" (1940). McNaughton passed away in November 1969 at the age of 88.
