Biography

Character actor Michael McGrady often plays tough guys in the movies and on TV. In 1984, the actor made his onscreen debut in the football biopic "The Bear," alongside Gary Busey and Harry Dean Stanton. After working steadily in supporting parts throughout the 1980s and '90s, including stints on "Murder, She Wrote," "Picket Fences," "24," and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," McGrady was cast in a continuing role as the hitman Buchalter in the innovative "Day Break." Premiering in 2006, the sci-fi mystery followed a framed District Attorney (Taye Diggs) who had to continually repeat the same day in order to solve a murder. But viewers found the show's continuing, double-backing storyline difficult to grapple with and the show was soon cancelled. In 2009, McGrady claimed his biggest role yet, as Detective Daniel Salinger on the gritty cop drama "Southland." Acclaimed for its first season, the show was cancelled on the cusp of its second. Thankfully for McGrady, it was resurrected by TNT for another season of episodes.
