Biography
Van McCoy brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. McCoy's career began with music appearances mostly in comedies like "Melvin and Howard" (1980) with Paul Le Mat and "The Blue Iguana" (1988) with Dylan McDermott. Though known first for his music, McCoy also acted in the comedic adaptation "Sextette" (1978) with Mae West. In the nineties, McCoy's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like the Whoopi Goldberg comedy sequel "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit" (1993), the Miranda Otto comedy "Love Serenade" (1997) and "Out to Sea" (1997). His work was also in the Juliette Lewis comedic drama "The Other Sister" (1999). McCoy's music was also featured in the John Cusack comedy adaptation "High Fidelity" (2000) and "Last Chance Harvey" (2008) with Dustin Hoffman. McCoy's music was most recently featured in the Danny DeVito blockbuster animated adventure "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" (2012).
