Born in 1944 and raised in Ventura, California, actor John Thomas McCook was perhaps best known for his work on daytime soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" (CBS 1987- ). McCook's television debut came in 1964, when he was cast as Jim Kinney in the television sitcom "No Time for Sergeants" (ABC 1964-65). A number of other TV appearances followed, most notably several appearances on the iconic crime procedural "Dragnet" (NBC 1967-1970). In 1976, McCook joined the cast of "The Young and the Restless"(CBS 1973- ), a daytime soap opera about the life and times of the citizens of fictional Genoa City, Wisconsin, in which he played the role of Lance Prentiss. McCook joined "The Bold and the Beautiful" (CBS 1987- ) at its inception and by 2015 had appeared in over two thousand episodes of the wildly popular serial.
