Early in his entertainment career, Mayuzumi's music was featured in films like "Street of Shame" (1956), "End of Summer" (1961) and "Ohayo" (1962) with Koji Shidara. His music was also used in the Akaji Mare dramatic period piece "Chimimorya" (1971), "Zeami" (1974) with Ujitoshi Iwasa and the Shoichi Ozawa dramatic adaptation "The Pornographers" (1987). His work was also in the Rentaro Mikuni drama "Tales From A Southern Island" (1988) and "Unholy Desire" (1991). Mayuzumi was nominated for a Music (Original Music Score) Academy Award for "The Bible" in 1966. More recently, Mayuzumi appeared on the documentary "A Man Vanishes" (2012) with Shohei Imamura.
