Biography

Billy May produced music that was featured in many Hollywood productions. Billy May began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like "The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown" (1957) with Jane Russell, the Frank Sinatra comedy "Sergeants 3" (1962) and the Henry de Silva dramatic adaptation "Johnny Cool" (1963). His music also appeared in the crime adaptation "Tony Rome" (1967) with Frank Sinatra and the comedy "The Secret Life of an American Wife" (1968) with Walter Matthau. In the eighties, Billy May devoted his time to various credits, such as "Pennies From Heaven" (1981) starring Steve Martin, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" (1982) starring Burt Reynolds and "Racing With the Moon" with Sean Penn (1984). He also worked on "Swing Shift" (1984) starring Goldie Hawn. Billy May's music was also featured in "Yma Sumac: Hollywood's Inca Princess" (1992), "Ordinary Decent Criminal" (2000) and the comedy "Death to Smoochy" (2002) with Robin Williams. His music was also featured in the Sandra Bullock comedy "Two Weeks Notice" (2002). Billy May was most recently credited in the Jonah Hill box office smash action picture "21 Jump Street" (2012). Billy May passed away in January 2004 at the age of 88.
