A gifted actress and writer, Sylvie Moreau proved herself equally adept in both comic and dramatic roles. Born Dec. 30, 1964 in Montréal, Québec, Canada, Sylvie Moreau completed her theatrical training at l'Université du Québec à Montréal and became an accomplished stage actress. Moreau made her screen debut on the twenty-something sitcom "Majeurs et vaccinés" (Radio-Canada, 1995-96) for which she was nominated for a Gémeaux Award. After flexing her comic chops on "Un gars, une fille" (Radio-Canada, 1997-2003), she won a Best Actress Genie playing a desperate woman who refuses to remain dead in the strange but moving "Post Mortem" (1999). Tackling writing as well as acting duties, Moreau reprised her "Majeurs" role on her own sitcom, "Catherine" (Radio-Canada, 1998-2003), playing a wry, complicated designer approaching her thirties with a sense of humor. Becoming a TV mainstay, the actress also landed a long-running role as the eccentric psychologist Valence Leclerc, member of a wacky spaceship crew on the popular series "Dans une galaxie près de chez vous" (VRAK.TV, 1998-2001), which launched several film installments as well. She won a Best Supporting Actress Jutra and a Genie nomination for the romantic comedy "Les aimants" (2004), earned a Best Actress Genie nomination for "Familia" (2005) and continued to work steadily on such TV projects as "30 Vies" (Radio-Canada, 2011- ) and the dialogue-free sketch series "LOL :-)" (The Comedy Network, 2011- ).
