Biography
Canadian-born Francis Mankiewicz had carved out quite a career for himself directing for the silver screen. Mankiewicz received his start directing independent films, including early work on the Guy L'Ecuyer drama "Le Temps d'Une Chasse" (1972) and "Les Beaux Souvenirs" (1981). he followed in the eighties and the nineties directing the Kenneth Welsh crime feature "And Then You Die" (1987), the drama "Les Portes tournantes" (1988) with Monique Spaziani and "Love and Hate: A Marriage Made in Hell" (1989-1990). Later in his career, Mankiewicz directed "Conspiracy of Silence" (1991-92). Mankiewicz passed away in August 1993 at the age of 49.
