Biography
Ruggedly handsome leading man or second lead in Hollywood in the 1940s. His starring performance opposite Luise Rainer in the 1942 Broadway revival of James Barrie's "Kiss for Cinderella" won him a Hollywood contract with 20th Century Fox. Langan is best remembered as a French teacher idolized by a student (Jeanne Crain) in "Margie," a young doctor protecting a shy governess (Gene Tierney) in "Dragonwyck" (both 1946) and the psychiatrist in "The Snake Pit" (1948). Langan was married in 1949 to the former actress Adele Jergens.
