He moved to New York City. He was nominated for a BAFTA Award for "Chance Meeting" in 1959. After earning this award, Lampell penned a script for "The Idol" (1966) with Jennifer Jones. Lampell last produced "The Wall" (CBS, 1981-82). Lampell passed away in October 1997 at the age of 78.
