Biography

A prolific character actor, Irwin Keyes has been appearing on TV shows and in films since the late 1970s and was responsible for popularizing a catchphrase while a recurring character on "The Jeffersons." Keyes got his start with a bit part in the 1978 family comedy feature "Manny's Orphans" and made an appearance in the cult classic "The Warriors." His looks made him a natural for thug and tough-guy characters, and he played a bouncer in the 1979 comedy "Squeeze Play" and "Too Mean" Levine in the sci-fi comedy "Zapped!" In 1981 he began playing recurring character Hugo Mojelewski in the sitcom "The Jeffersons" where his catchphrase "Hi! Remember me?" briefly gained popularity. He was in the action film "Exterminator 2" in 1984, and played a gangster in a 1985 episode of "Moonlighting." In 1992 he appeared in the David Lynch series "On the Air" and was Joe Rockhead in both the live-action film "The Flintstones" and its 2000 sequel, "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas." In the 2000s he had a supporting role in the Rob Zombie horror film "House of 1000 Corpses" and co-starred in the wrestling-themed horror film "El Mascarado Massacre."
