Synopsis

To protect his interest in a South American diamond mine project, investment counselor Dan Warren embezzles $100,000 from one of his clients, retired racketeer Kurt Novak. When the deception is discovered by the gangster, Dan is granted time to raise the money on the condition that he take out a $100,000 life insurance policy naming Novak as beneficiary. A short time later Dan is informed by Novak that unless he returns the money within 5 days he will have an "accident." Desperate, Dan persuades his partner, Jerry Manning, and his secretary, Karen Walker, to help him. They steal a collection of diamonds from a poorly-guarded museum, replace them with a sack of low-grade stones, and then insure the valuable gems for $100,000. Jerry then "steals" the diamonds from Dan and replaces them in the museum, thereby leaving Dan free to collect the insurance money. After his cohorts have left town, Dan learns from the insurance company that he will not be paid for 5 or 6 weeks. When he so informs Novak, the racketeer shoots him in the back. Before dying, however, Dan manages to throw a TV set at Novak, knocking him into a nearby pool. The accident shorts the electrical connection, and the gangster is electrocuted.
