Synopsis

Skipper Murphy, a tough kid with a tender heart, is concerned about his brother Red, a contender for the light heavyweight boxing championship. A gambling syndicate led by Monk tries to convince Red to throw the match, but the honest fighter refuses. After his direct approach fails, Monk turns to devious means to achieve his goal, and thus induces Doc Radford, a disreputable doctor, to pose as a lung specialist. After examining Red's sweetheart, singer Ruth Lane, Doc informs the girl that she is gravely ill and her only chance for recovery is to journey to Arizona for an operation. Desperate for the $1,500 needed to pay for Ruth's medical expenses, Red turns to his manager, Bill Grogan, for an advance. When Grogan refuses his request, Red is forced to go to Monk, who offers the money in return for Dick's promise to throw the match. Red determines to keep his word and throws the fight, but while he is boxing, Skipper is taken captive by Monk's men when he discovers that Doc is a fraud. After scaping from his captors, Skipper rushes to ringside just in time to see his brother lose the bout. After Skipper presents the police with his incriminating evidence, Monk and his gang's reign of corruption is ended.
