Synopsis

Mary, a police officer's widow, lives with her 14-year-old son, Danny, a delivery boy for the Denver Post . Lieutenant Williams, Danny's father's best friend, loves Mary, but she is determined not to remarry a policeman. Meanwhile, Gus Jordan, a wrestler with a heart condition, steals a fur for Lola, a nightclub performer. After learning the gift is stolen property, Lola is accidentally killed in a struggle with Gus. Danny, delivering papers on his route, witnesses the incident and flees. While investigating the fur theft, Lieutenant Williams realizes the connection with Lola's death. The officer locates Gus's hotel room, but the wrestler, having learned where Danny lives, breaks into the boy's home. Danny escapes through a back door and is chased to the Lakeside Amusement Park, not yet opened for the day. A watchman alerts the police after he notices Gus cornering Danny atop the framework of the roller coaster. Gus explains to the boy that he doesn't want to hurt him, but needs him to tell the police that Lola's death was accidental. Although Danny tries to save Gus when he suffers a heart seizure, Gus, realizing his weight will plunge both he and the boy to their deaths, releases Danny's hand and falls to his death. Lieutenant Williams rescues Danny, and Mary decides to marry him.
