Synopsis

Jack Rankin and his pal Manny are riding the range when they come upon the body of Ranger Bob Adams, who has been bushwacked and left to die alone in the wilderness. Deciding to complete the job of the luckless Ranger, Jack assumes Adams' identity and sets out for the wild and lawless town of Brimstone. There, he discovers that the local miners are being victimized by a gang of outlaws led by Mason. Using the guise of the dead Ranger, Jack begins to clean up the town until Adams' sister Marian appears and denounces Jack. Jack is then accused of murdering Adams, and in the ensuing fight, Manny is captured but Jack escapes. Claiming that he knows the identity of the real killer, Jack vows to unmask the man at a certain hour. At the appointed time, Jack corners one of Mason's gang and forces him to confess that Mason murdered Adams. Thus exonerated, Jack decides to stay on as sheriff of Brimstone with Marian at his side.
