Synopsis
Angered with his overbearing fiancée, young archeologist Mike Thompson becomes involved with the mysterious Ila Hansen, a German woman who, at 16 years of age, was raped by Jack, a friend of her sailor brother. As their affair progresses, Mike learns that Ila is sharing a flat with her boss, Reg Barker. Mike's anger is moderated when the older man explains that he is impotent and that the arrangement is strictly for business purposes. Soon thereafter, Jack appears and demands that Ila give him £1,500 he needs to avoid imminent trouble. When Ila is unable to get the money from either Mike or Reg, she turns on them and brazenly admits that Jack is the only man capable of satisfying her sexual appetite. Unable to face the future without Ila, Reg commits suicide. Ila then goes to Mike's fiancée, Margaret Goreham, and tries to barter Mike for cash. When she is scorned, Ila, realizing she has lost all three men, walks out and picks up the first man who comes along.
