Synopsis

Frustrated in his efforts to apprehend a gang of cattle rustlers, sheriff Bob Hall is chastised by rancher D. A. Farley. Unknown to Bob, Farley is the leader of the gang, which also includes Fred Jones, the brother of Bob's sweetheart Helen. While on the trail of the rustlers, Andy, Bob's deputy, is wounded by Hardy Kellar, one of Farley's gang, and Bob, drawn by the sound of the gunshot, arrives just in time to see the gang disperse. Bob follows one of the riders to the Jones ranch, where he questions Fred, who feigns innocence. Meanwhile, in town, Farley decides to plant a man as deputy sheriff to watch Bob, and imports killer Pete Childers for the job. Soon afterward, Andy perishes from his wounds, but before dying, identifies Kellar as his killer. After Farley orders Childers to silence Kellar, Bob and his new deputy, George, ride out to the Jones ranch in search of Kellar. At the ranch, Kellar surrenders, but Childers guns him down anyway. Bob arrests Childers for Kellar's murder, but Childers escapes. Farley, suspicious of Fred, sends one of his men to the Jones ranch, where he overhears Fred telling Helen to warn Bob that Farley is out to get him. Before Helen can caution him, however, Bob intercepts Bill Kellar, one of the rustlers, who confesses that Farley is running the operation from his cabin in Pinto Canyon. After sending George for reinforcements, Bob rides to Pinto Canyon, where Fred and Helen are being held captive. At the hideout, Bob, with Fred's help, overpowers the rustlers, and George and the posse arrive just in time to arrest Farley.
