Synopsis

Mamie Hudler, a San Francisco nightclub entertainer, is nearly killed when she refuses the attentions of Oldfield but is saved by Brood, a violinist, who is disabled by a bullet intended for her. Changing her name to Rodeo West, Mamie goes to New York where she becomes "queen of the nightclubs," with Brood, her manager, protecting her from her grafting family and especially her brother Jule. After a row with the family, Brood threatens to leave. Then Oldfield, who has struck oil, appears at the club; Rodeo plays up to him; and he later proposes marriage. Brood congratulates her, but his attitude enrages her. Brood then confesses his love for her and is about to leave when Rodeo unexpectedly dresses in a bridal costume and announces her engagement to him; all ends happily.
