Oklahoma Jim

Oklahoma Jim Kirby, a gambler, and Lacy, the owner of a saloon, happen upon a wedding ceremony between Natoma, a chief's daughter, and War Eagle. The wedding is interrupted when it is revealed that Natoma had been tricked into a false marriage with a white man. She will not name him, however, and commits suicide out of shame. Later, Lacy claims rights in his deceased partner's business, the Indian Range trading post. Jim had planned to run the gambling games for Lacy and is surprised to learn that he plans to sell the successful business to Cash Riley. Before the transaction can be completed, however, Betty Rankin, the previous owner's niece, arrives from the East. Meanwhile, the Indians have taken to the warpath to avenge Natoma's honor. In order to prevent war, an Indian agent agrees to help them find the man who dishonored her. Betty is repelled by the roughness of the country and the people in the West and decides to return to Boston. She then befriends Jerry, a young white boy who has been reared by the Indians. Jerry tries to stop Lacy from selling alcohol to the Indians, and Jim rescues him from Lacy's subsequent wrath. Jim then suggests that he and Jerry set up a home together. Jim learns from Jerry that Betty plans to sell the trading post to Riley and return home, and he becomes outraged when he hears how little she was offered. When Lacy demands his share of the money from Riley so that he can leave town, Riley, angry because Lacy earlier tried to sell him something that he did not really own, refuses. Riley is killed, but before he dies, names Lacy as his killer. Jerry shows Betty the trading post books, and she realizes that Lacy was trying to cheat her. When the agent arrests Jim and Lacy as suspects in Natoma's suicide, Betty tells Jim that she will be waiting for him if he comes through the Indian trial. The two men are asked by the Indians to drink a poison that will make the guilty man faint. Jim drinks it and when Lacy refuses, the Indians proclaim his guilt. His name cleared, Jim asks Betty to marry him. He will run the gambling tables at the trading post, and the couple will adopt Jerry.
