Synopsis
Years of family feuding and lawlessness in the small Kansas range town of Canyon City have led the town's Citizens Committee to seek the aid of The Range Busters to clean things up. While riding to the town, the three Range Busters, Alibi, Crash and Dusty, find themselves in a shoot-out with some gunmen intent on "discouraging" them from entering Canyon City. The intimidation effort is led by outlaw Robert Harmon and his brother Bart, who have been engaged in a long-standing feud with the Rowell family ever since Judge Rowell sentenced their younger brother to die. Although the Harmon gang does not succeed in scaring the Range Busters away during the gunfight, they do manage to steal their horses, forcing them to walk the rest of the way. Soon after the Range Busters are sworn in as peace officers, they are put right to work breaking up a fight at the Lady Luck Saloon. The Range Busters are next called to the village schoolhouse, where they meet schoolteacher Sally Rowell, daughter of the late Judge Rowell, who requires their help in finding a skunk hiding beneath the floorboards. Meanwhile, as part of their plan to avenge the death of their brother, the Harmon brothers plan to take away land belonging to the Rowell family. Jimmy, Sally's brother and ward, gets mixed up with the outlaws when Bart coerces him into helping them rob a local rancher. The robbery attempt is foiled, however, when the Range Busters arrive and engage the Harmon gang in a shoot-out. Jimmy is injured in the gun battle, and after eluding capture by the Range Busters, takes refuge at his sister's. To protect her brother, Sally hides him in a remote cabin and lies to Crash when he comes to arrest him. While the Harmon brothers devise a plan to kill Jimmy and Sally, Crash finds the Rowells's hideout and tries to arrest Jimmy. Sally, however, points her rifle at Crash, giving Jimmy the opportunity to flee. Outside the cabin, Jimmy notices the approaching Harmon brothers and decides to protect Sally by riding away on Crash's horse, knowing that the Harmons will go after Crash before they go after him and Sally. Jimmy succeeds in diverting the Harmons' attention from the cabin, but is shot in the ensuing chase. When Bob and Bart return to the cabin, they are met with gunfire from all three Range Busters, who manage to overpower the Harmons and arrest them. Crash and Sally soon find the wounded Jimmy, but he dies in his sister's arms shortly thereafter. Having rid Canyon City of the Harmons, the Range Busters pack up and leave for their next destination.
