Synopsis
After recovering from a racing accident, dirt track champion Bob Crane is told by his doctor that he must retire from the races because he has developed a heart condition. Bob turns his attention to a new career, and helps his pal, Pop Sullivan, start a trucking business. Pop has had little success in trying to start the business alone as his competitor, Steve Lynch, has been sabotaging his one and only truck. Bob uses most of his savings to purchase a large truck and is consigned to drive it to San Diego. Steve sends his driver, Monk Grady, to remove the truck's cargo while Bob is on the road. Bob is financially devastated by the seeming mishap, but Sally, Pop's daughter, comes to his aid when she secures another delivery contract for him. Steve, however, intervenes and challenges Bob to a contest to see who will get the contract. The contest, a race between Bob and Monk to the top of Iron Mountain, is sabotaged by Steve and results in Bob's truck being forced over an embankment. Pop and Bob are only slightly injured in the wreck and Steve is awarded the contract. After having repaired his truck, Bob is offered a job hauling dynamite to the top of Iron Mountain for the opening celebration of a newly constructed power plant. Steve tampers with Bob's brakes and nearly causes the runaway truck to plow into a group of spectators. Bob tells Pop to jump from the truck, then steers it clear of the crowd, saving hundreds of lives. Steve is exposed as the saboteur, and Bob is hailed as a hero by one and all.
