Synopsis

Daisy King, a singing clerk at Woolworth's, meets Bill Harrigan, a subway guard, at a party, each boasting another job. He recovers her handbag from the subway and invites her to dinner. Lawrence Mayfield, the owner of the Mayfield Club, offers Daisy a job as entertainer there, and though Bill is displeased, Daisy is delighted. After having accepted Bill's proposal of marriage, Daisy reports to Mayfield's club, and Tillie Hart, her roommate, explains her absence to Bill, who then is injured in a wreck on his way to the club. Daisy learns of the accident but is forced to go through with her act; later, Mayfield tries to detain her in the dressing room, but Bill, with his face and arm bandaged, enters, and Daisy is happy to forego her career for him.
