Synopsis
Millionaire playboy Cornelius V. Rensington III, also known as the Zipper King, is a steady fixture at Gals, Inc., being the main financial support of the nightclub. In fact, the club's floor show does not begin until Corney's arrival. Molly, the president of the nightclub's corporation, feels guilty about living off Corney, but the other girls, led by Gwen Adams, are happy to lead gold diggers' lives. All the girls become worried when Corney catches a cold, as they realize that the club will close down if he should die. As Corney lies sick in bed, he is visited by two of his older sister Jennifer's attorneys, who tell him that she, as controller of the family estate, has decided to stop the playboy's money unless he re-marries. The female nightclub owners then decide to have Molly pretend to be Corney's wife during his sister's brief stay, and, as his servants have all quit, the other girls pretend to be Corney's household staff. Jennifer soon arrives at Corney's estate with his son Bill, who is now fully grown and a U.S. Marine. Bill immediately accuses Molly of being a fortune hunter, which greatly upsets the honest young woman. Jennifer, however, is very happy with her new sister-in-law, and announces that she is returning home the next day. Bill plans to leave as well, but Molly asks him to stay for the remainder of his furlough. Later, Molly attempts to tell Bill the truth about her relationship to his father, but Gwen arrives just in time to stop her. At dinner that night, Jennifer announces that, should Corney and Molly separate, his entire estate would revert to Bill. Gwen then takes Bill to Gals, Inc., where Molly and the girls are forced to perform wearing masks. Bill recognizes Molly nevertheless, and when he learns the truth about his father's "marriage," the upset Marine announces that he is going to marry Gwen. Corney, Molly and the girls arrive at the justice of the peace just in time to stop the wedding, and Molly and Bill finally admit their love for each other.
