Danger! Women at Work

In Los Angeles, Terry Olsen and her friend Marie work at a gasoline station while their other friend Pert drives a taxi. When Terry learns that she has inherited her uncle Joe's truck and ramshackle home in Glendale, her boyfriend Pete, and Pert's boyfriend Danny, inspire the women to start a trucking business. Terry almost fails the driving test when she terrifies her instructor with her reckless driving, but after she passes, she and her partners contract with Pete and Danny's trucking boss to transport nitroglycerin from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Because war-time regulations require that they haul full loads each way, Terry advertises to the public, and is hired by gambler Duke Edwards to move his equipment from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Terry, Pert and Marie leave Los Angeles just before a finance company repossesses the truck, and a warrant is sworn out for their arrest. Unknown to them, they are being pursued by two men from the finance company and by rival of Duke, who intend to hijack the truck and steal the equipment. Along the way, they stop for lunch and when they return to the truck, a woman suffering from amnesia is sitting in the back. When she insists on remaining in the truck, they all set off together. On the road, Terry stops to pick up a hitchhiker named Madame Sapho. Sapho, a fortune teller, uses her crystal ball to help discover the identity of the mystery woman, but although she uncovers details from the woman's life, her name remains undetermined. From a friendly highway patrolman, Terry learns that because the truck is not equipped with dimmers, she will not be able to drive at night. After consulting with Pert and Marie, she decides to spend the night at a Nevada motel. Before they arrive, Terry picks up Doris Bendix, who offers to pay them $200 if they will deliver her to Boulder Dam. That night, when the rest of the women check into the motel, Doris remains in the truck. After dinner, Terry watches some men playing crap, and when the wife of one of the players confiscates the dice, Terry supplies another pair from the collection in the truck. For excitement, Terry joins in the game and succeeds in winning the entire pot. The truckers are back on the road early the next morning. From the newspaper, they learn that Doris ran away when her millionaire father refused to let her marry Tommy Jones. Now, in addition to the gamblers and the finance men, the truck is being pursued by Bendix's men, who want the reward offered for Doris's return; the craps players, who believe that Terry used loaded dice; and the husband of the woman with amnesia. Before they reach Las Vegas, the truckers are arrested for cheating at craps, and because they are allowed one phone call, Doris suggests that they call Tommy. Meanwhile, after Danny and Pete spot Terry's truck outside the courthouse, they stop to see if they can help the women. In the courtroom, to prove that the dice are not crooked, Terry offers to let one of her accusers throw them. When he loses the throw, the case is dismissed. Then Danny arrives in the courtroom, along with the husband of the woman with amnesia, who identifies her as his wife Regina. She still does not recognize him however, so Terry hits her on the head with a vase and the shock causes Regina to regain her memory. Finally the judge performs a triple wedding for Terry and Pete, Pert and Danny, and Doris and Tommy.
