Synopsis
When her boyfriend Steve arrives with his wife Nita at the Cross Country bus station in New York City, Sue, who was unaware that Steve was married, is stunned and angry. Although Steve makes excuses for his dishonesty, Sue is unmoved and sits by herself on the San Francisco-bound bus. She is soon joined by Norman, the playboy heir to a Seattle lumber fortune, who is traveling with Murphy, a trainer. Although Murphy, who has been hired by Norman's father to keep his son away from women, discourages him from pursuing Sue, Norman is smitten. At the same time, May, a penniless passenger, flirts with the various drivers to avoid paying for tickets and meets Bronson, a talkative Rotarian. Jealous of Norman's attention to Sue, Steve slips her a note, asking her to meet him at an inn at the bus's next stop. Sue, who has determined to end the affair, agrees to the rendezvous in order to inform Steve of her decision. However, Nita learns of the date and is furious. When the bus reaches Denver, Steve, desperate to speak with Sue, follows her to a department store. Overtaking her in the sports department, Steve thrusts Sue into a display tent to avoid attracting attention. Nita then appears suddenly and, while Sue tries to explain the situation, noisily berates her husband. After Sue leaves, Steve kills Nita with an arrow and covers his deed by substituting a dummy from a window display with her body. Soon, however, the police are on Steve's trail. Implicating Sue in the crime, Steve takes over the driving of the bus, but is stopped when the police set up a barricade by parking an airplane in the road. The police then begin an investigation of Steve in a nearby Indian schoolhouse. During the proceeding, however, Steve escapes in the bus and takes Sue as his captive. Pursued by Norman, the bus eventually crashes into a ditch and Steve is killed. Norman rescues Sue from the bus and, after reaching San Francisco, takes her to his father's lumber camp in Seattle. While Murphy becomes friendly with May, who has since discovered that Bronson is a bigamist, Norman and Sue make plans for their future together.

Notes
According to Variety, this film contains shots of Chicago and the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, UT. Variety also notes that the film was the "third release in the overland bus cycle," a reference to Columbia's 1934 film It Happened One Night, which opened soon after this one, and M-G-M's 1934 picture Fugitive Lovers, which opened shortly before it.
